Colin Herren

Co-Owner & President

Colin's journey in the construction industry began in the late 1980s, igniting his passion through building trades classes in high school and culminating in an Architecture degree from Ferris State University. Since establishing his initial building company in 1993, Colin's entrepreneurial spirit has thrived. Partnering with the Greenwald family in 1999 and assuming full control in 2013 showcased his strategic vision and leadership. Dedicated to ensuring quality and customer satisfaction, Colin actively oversees operations while personally engaging with clients. His involvement with Central Michigan University and advocacy within Home Builders Associations at local, state, and national levels underscore his commitment to education and industry-wide issues. Through fostering a culture of excellence within his team, Colin not only drives success but also cultivates a supportive environment where each member can thrive.

Preston Herren

Co-Owner & Vice President

Preston Herren embodies purposeful living, characterized by relentless positive action and a commitment to excellence. Raised in Central Michigan, he learned the value of exceptional customer service through his family's Heating and Cooling business. Pursuing his passion for wildlife and biology at Central Michigan University, Preston ventured into building and remodeling homes and commercial businesses with his cousin, eventually establishing his own companies, Herren Construction and Shoreline Building & Restoration. His seven-year tenure on Beaver Island solidified his reputation as a reputable builder, deeply rooted in community and relationships. Upon his return to Central Michigan in 2016, Preston co-owned Greenwald & BC with his cousin, Colin, while maintaining his commitment to Beaver Island. Embracing the island's culture, he offers his extensive experience and unwavering service to its community. Preston's leadership, grounded in community values and a pursuit of excellence, sets a standard of exceptional customer service and quality workmanship, ensuring that dreams become reality with every project.

Lindsey Smith

Controller

Introducing Lindsey, our exceptional Controller, whose journey in finance and accounting is truly inspiring. From her early exposure to numbers and financial management in a local accounting firm, Lindsey embarked on a path marked by dedication and hard work. Thriving in the dynamic environment of large-scale accounting firms during her college years and beyond, Lindsey's commitment to excellence propelled her forward, enriching her with invaluable expertise along the way. Transitioning to the private sector, she adeptly navigated the complexities of overseeing finances for numerous properties, showcasing her prowess in managing intricate financial landscapes. Beyond her professional achievements, Lindsey values work-life balance, cherishing moments spent with her loved ones. Her influence extends far beyond her role as Controller; she challenges conventional notions, inspiring innovation and growth within our organization, shaping our financial strategies and business approach. Chad Hoeve

Project Manager

Chad, our dedicated Project Manager at Greenwald & BC, specializes in infusing small-scale projects with character and charm, ensuring they radiate authenticity from inception to completion. With a background rooted in masonry, where he mastered the art of bringing buildings to life from the ground up, Chad's expertise evolved through a decade-long tenure. Transitioning to a role as an outside salesman for a national lumber company broadened his knowledge of building products and market applications, with Greenwald & BC among his esteemed clientele. When the need arose for an on-staff project manager, Chad seamlessly integrated into our team, showcasing his commitment to excellence and turning client dreams into reality. His enduring dedication and expertise have not only enriched our projects but also cultivated strong community relationships, making Chad an invaluable cornerstone of trust within our organization.

Eric Vollmar

Project Manager

Bringing a wealth of experience to the Greenwald team, Eric joined us in 2022 with an impressive 32-year background in the construction industry. His journey commenced similarly to Colin's, with a foundation laid in building trades classes during high school, where Eric's unwavering dedication to his craft began to flourish. Spending seven years honing his skills with a local builder, Eric's passion and commitment to excellence drove him to entrepreneurship. For 25 years, he successfully ran his own building company in Central Michigan, mastering construction intricacies and earning a loyal clientele who valued his dedication to their visions. Seeking a better work-life balance, Eric transitioned to Greenwald & BC Inc., seamlessly integrating his expertise as a project manager. With a focus on overseeing new home builds, interior remodels, and additions, Eric's extensive experience and exceptional leadership ensure precision and care in every project, regardless of scale. His journey to Greenwald & BC Inc. has garnered a following of satisfied customers who trust in his guidance, making Eric an invaluable asset as we continue to transform clients' dreams into realities.

Amy Herren

Office Manager

Amy has been an indispensable member of the Greenwald & BC team for over a decade, seamlessly transitioning from her previous roles to focus on the smooth operation of our office as our Office Manager. While initially managing accounting and paperwork for building projects, Amy's evolving role now revolves around ensuring the seamless functioning of our administrative processes. As one of the first friendly faces to greet visitors, she cultivates a warm and inviting atmosphere reflective of our company ethos. Amy's meticulous approach to her responsibilities guarantees precision in scheduling, appointments, and overall office organization, underscoring our commitment to delivering exceptional service. Beyond her administrative duties, Amy's warm demeanor and dedication make her a trusted resource for clients, embodying our commitment to personalized care and attention to detail.

Matt Stanke

Superintendent & Lead Carpenter

Since joining the Greenwald & BC team in 1998, Matt Stanke, a native of Central Michigan, has been a stalwart leader committed to enhancing the community he calls home. Excelling as a superintendent, he adeptly manages a diverse portfolio of 5-10 projects, collaborating closely with skilled tradesmen to ensure efficiency and uphold the company's exacting standards. Matt's dedication extends beyond project oversight; he also mentors younger staff members, sharing his wealth of craftsmanship knowledge. His meticulous attention to detail and comprehensive involvement, from project execution to fleet management and office maintenance, exemplify his unwavering commitment to every aspect of our business. Matt's longstanding presence and exceptional leadership have earned him the affectionate moniker "Marvelous Matt" from clients, cementing his reputation as a cornerstone of Greenwald & BC.

Katelynn Tilmann

Selection's Coordinator

Originally from Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Katelynn has a solid background in customer service, management, and logistics. She spent 5 years managing a well-known organic sandwich shop in Seattle, where she focused on sustainability and building strong customer relationships. Her leadership skills and dedication to top-notch service led to both team and organizational success. Transitioning to the industrial sector, Katelynn spent 6 years at Bandit Industries, a major machinery manufacturer. Here, she supervised logistics, service, and fleet management, implementing process improvements that benefited both clients and employees. Her commitment to the company and her team was evident in the measurable results achieved during her tenure. Now, as Selections Coordinator at Greenwald and B.C., Katelynn continues to leverage her expertise in logistics and management, ensuring that every project meets the highest standards of quality and efficiency. Since Katelynn started at Greenwald and B.C. her approach has remained the same: striving for perfection in every project and taking pride in her work.
